Cumming, Georgia was established in 1833 and incorporated in 1845. In 1833, the settlement was initially surveyed. It's about 40 miles north of Atlanta. Cumming's land came from the Cherokee land lottery in 1832. The name is derived from a commander in the war of 1812, who is known as Col. William Cumming.
Cumming is located in Forsyth County and is considered one of Georgia's greatest places to live.
