Kennesaw is located in Cobb County, about 20 miles northwest of Atlanta. The railway city on the Western and Atlantic trains was officially created in 1887. For the epic locomotive chase in 1862, Kennesaw became locally famous.

Kennesaw's parks are a popular tourist destination. Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park spans over 2800 acres and features over 17 miles of trails. Swift Cantrell Park features playgrounds, walking pathways, a skate park, and even a dog park! Smith-Gilbert Gardens, a 16-acre recreational site rich with plants, flowers, and veggies encircling an early 1800s plantation mansion, is also a great place for day excursions and weddings.
